Apple Will Revamp the Display of the Latest Generation of iPad Mini

 

Apple is rumored to be overhauling the appearance of the latest generation iPad Mini which was released this year. This information was revealed by Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, some time ago.

Quoted from GSM Arena, the appearance of the iPad Mini, which will be released later this year, will have a major change. Mark also called this the biggest design change that occurred in the history of the iPad Mini in the last nine years.

This information continues the leak previously revealed by Mark. In addition, based on the outstanding renders, the design of the latest iPad Mini does look different, such as thinner bezels and the absence of a physical home button.

Not only Mark, Ming-Chi Kuo previously also revealed this change. He said, with thinner bezels, the iPad Mini screen span becomes wider, around 8.5 to 9 inches, different from the current generation which is only 7.9 inches.

Other changes were also made with the use of a USB Type-C port in place of the lightning port. Although the physical home button is removed, the Touch ID function is said to be still available and embedded in the power button.

However, there is no information regarding the specifications or release schedule for this latest generation of iPad Mini. Apple itself is said to not only be introducing the latest iPad Mini in 2021, but also the iPad Pro.

Apple Will Release iPad Pro and MacBook Air with Mini LED Screen

On the other hand, Apple is rumored to be introducing the latest generation for the iPad Pro and MacBook Air lines which are already equipped with a mini LED screen.

This information was revealed by a well-known leaker for Apple products, namely Ming-Chi Kuo. He said the new mini LED supplier -- Luxshare Precision -- will start mass production from the second half of 2021 to 2022.

"It is estimated that Apple's new product equipped with a mini LED screen will be released in 2022," Kuo said, as reported by Gizchina, Tuesday (13/7/2021).

Kuo added that the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, as well as the new MacBook Air will come with this mini LED display panel.

Information, mini LED is an LCD-based display panel with thousands of small backlight diodes.

That said, these panels offer far superior contrast, brighter, and improved HDR performance that can rival OLED panels.

The report also mentions that the current hardware supply bottleneck for the iPad Pro mini LED is the production process for the SMT LED mini.

MacBook Pro with mini LED

Some analysts believe that Luxshare Precision can significantly reduce the cost of producing mini LEDs and can also increase the supply of these panel displays after becoming a new supplier.

Ming-Chi Kuo also predicts that the newly designed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros that will enter mass production in the third quarter of 2021 will come with mini LED displays.
