Canalys recently reported that Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi managed to beat Apple as the second largest smartphone seller in the world. Based on the shipments of mobile phones that occurred in the second quarter of this year, Xiaomi for the first time managed to leapfrog Apple in terms of mobile phone sales.
In Canalys' records, in the second quarter of this year Xiaomi experienced a rapid market development of 83 percent. On the other hand, Apple, which was previously in second place, was only able to achieve a growth of 1 percent.
This increase occurred because Xiaomi's sales strategy in several new regions was going well. Overseas sales increased sharply, especially in Latin America by 300 percent, Africa with a 150 percent increase and a 50 percent increase in the Western Europe region.

Even though it managed to overthrow Apple from the second position, Xiaomi is still not able to compete with Samsung's gait in the smartphone market. In the second quarter of this year, Samsung was in first place with a market increase of 15 percent. Currently, Samsung dominates the global smartphone market share of 19 percent.
Canalys said to be able to beat Samsung, Xiaomi must be able to push sales of their high-end smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. It is known that the price of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is indeed above the $900 price range.
"Xiaomi's main priority this year is to increase sales of high-end devices, such as the Mi 11 Ultra. But it will be a tough effort because Oppo and Vivo have the same desire.
